About Harper Adams University
Harper Adams University and elentecBioAg
Harper Adams University is the leading specialist university tackling the future development of our planet’s food production and technology, animal health and wellbeing, and their contribution to sustainable, living environments.
In collaboration with elentecBio, the elentecBioAg project looks at developing commercial technology for the separation of dairy slurry into different phosphorous and nitrogen nutrient products for crop use and recovery of water for further use. This would allow the application of concentrated nutrients to meet plant and soil need, reducing slurry spreading costs and time required. The project also aims to generate circular nutrient supply chains to allow excess nutrients to be sold off-farm for other farmers to use, offsetting their requirement for artificial fertilisers. This approach would also reduce the amount of slurry storage required by dairy farms and the emissions associated with slurry storage.
