About Chris Dobbs
Chris Dobbs is the founder and grower behind a thriving no‑dig, chemical‑free market garden; Chris’s Market Garden, on the north shore of Belfast Lough, between the towns of Whitehead and Carrickfergus. Since first planting vegetables and a small flock of laying hens in 2021, his farm has focused on building soil health and producing nutrient-rich, flavourful vegetables for the local community. Chris became a key supplier to Carrick Greengrocers, Northern Ireland’s first community-owned greengrocer, and helped craft their mantra “community-owned, locally-grown”.
He played a leading role in the launch of the Friendly Food Club, a subsidised veg-box scheme designed to make climate‑friendly produce accessible to low-income families. As part of the Bridging the Gap initiative, Chris’s involvement ensures locally-grown, nature-friendly vegetables reach more tables, regardless of income.
At Fields Good, Chris will co-present “Deep Dive Into Profitable Market Gardening” alongside John McCormick, offering firsthand insights into no‑dig systems, crop planning, customer engagement, and community-focused business models that boost both soil and sales.
