About Dr. Sophie Price

Dr. Sophie Price has worked in academia as a lecturer and research leader for more than 20 years, with a more recent focus on regenerative tourism. Her work has included collaborations with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, Leave No Trace Ireland, Waterways Ireland and Ecotourism Ireland, as well as EU-funded projects with international partners. In 2024, Sophie swapped academia for a very overgrown smallholding near Dromore in County Down, where she founded Moss and Stone, a tourism enterprise rooted in nature, creativity and the outdoors. Despite having no farming background, she is thoroughly enjoying the challenge of bringing the place back to life, renovating stone outbuildings into accommodation and creating a space for craft workshops and events. Sophie is passionate about nature, community development and helping people connect with the places they visit.

Sophie will be chairing the panel ‘Old Skills, New Value’.
