About Fred Farrelly
Fred is an active member of GrowIN, Irish Agroforestry Forum, The Farm Woodland Forum and is on the steering group for the Nature Friendly Farming Network.
Living in rural Fermanagh on a small sheep farm with wife Rhoda and two daughters, Fred has a lifelong interest in trees and enhancing biodiversity, with a particular interest in incorporating financially productive trees onto their livestock farm whilst allowing full access for modern machinery amongst the trees. Successful innovative development of new solutions for agroforestry, mainly using electric fencing without loss of grazing area along paddock boundaries and, also rows within paddocks. Fred takes a closer to natural establishment approach, with unimpeded root growth and a significant reduction in plastic compared to conventional methods.
As a great believer in encouraging individuals by spreading the agroforestry message. Much interest in this technique has been shown from farmers and a range of others and Fred is always willing to advise and help other farmers get started with agroforestry on their farms.
At Fields Good, Fred will be presenting at the Agroforestry Marquee alongside Dr. Jim McAdam.
