About Jon Parker

Jon is Director for Wales with the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission living near Aberystwyth with his partner and daughter on a 32 acre holding. With a background that covers agri-food, fisheries and aquaculture he has taken a keen interest in the issues around water quality over the last ten years.

Jon worked with industry stakeholders to develop a voluntary, farmer led solution to avoid impending Welsh Government NVZ regulation in 2020 and continues to focus on both ecosystem-based solutions and technology led nutrient management and monitoring within the West Wales catchments.

As an ex-civil servant within Welsh Government’s rural affairs division until 2011 and making a move into various roles within the food industry following that, Jon brings a ‘both sides of the fence’ perspective of the need to address the pressures on our environment and how the food and water company system impacts on that.
